You cannot leave an impression on water. You can try to leave your mark, but it is impossible. You can cut it with a knife, penetrate it with a screwdriver, write on it with a pen, hit it with a hammer, cut it with a saw, try in any way to leave your mark on it. You will fail.

It will, of course, be temporarily affected, as it reacts by sending out waves in response to these interventions. But soon after its immediate and temporary spontaneous response, it will return to its original state.

Our mind would do well to emulate water in this way. Our mind now is not like water, but more like a rock, wood, metal or paper. When any of the above actions are performed on it (cutting, sawing, writing, pounding etc.) it is permanently changed. It does not return to its original state, but is affected by what has happened to it. Just as such effects become a permanent part of the stone, wood, metal or paper, our experiences become a permanent part of our inner psychology and affect everything we perceive, think, feel and do.

Thus we are seriously programmed and controlled by our past. We hold on to past events, feelings, and traumas, just as stone holds on to the marks made on it.

Let us learn to become like water, which responds in the present to whatever is happening, without being conditioned by the past events, which it has already let go of. In this way we will live in the ever moving present moment, unaffected by the past, able to respond to events and people as they really are, and not as we misconceive them through the filters of the past, which we wear like colored glasses over our eyes.

Let our minds become as flexible, flowing and free as water.

MANAGEMENT DECISIONS (pls forgive the use of names of live people without which the joke would not be as funny)

Once PVNR (PV Narasimha Rao), L.K. Advani and Laloo Prasad Yadav were travelling in an Auto Rickshaw. They met with an accident and all three of them died. Yama was waiting for this moment at the doorstep of death.
He asks PVNR and Advani to go to HEAVEN. But, for Laloo, Yama had already decided that he should be sent to HELL. Laloo is not at all happy with this decision.

He asks Yama as to why this discrimination is being made. All the three of them had served the public. Similarly, all took bribes, all misused public positions, etc. Then why the differential treatment? He felt that there should be a formal test or an objective evaluation before a decision is made;
and should not be just based on opinion or preconceived notions.

Yama agrees to this and asks all the three of them to appear for an English test.
1. PVNR is asked to spell "INDIA" and he does it correctly.
2. Advani is asked to spell " ENGLAND" and he too passes.
3. It is Laloo's turn and he is asked to spell "CZECHOSLOVAKIA".

Laloo protests that he doesn't know English. He says this is not fair and that he was given a tough question and thus forced to fail with false intent.

Yama then agrees to conduct a written test in Hindi (to give another chance assuming that Laloo should at least feel that Hindi would provide an equal platform for all three).
1. PVNR is asked to write "KUTTA BOLA BHOW BHOW". He writes it easily and passes.
2. Advani is asked to write "BILLY BOLI MYAUN MYAUN". He too passes.
3. Laloo is asked to write* "CHINTI BOLE......."* Tough one.
He fails again.

Laloo is extremely unhappy. Having been a student of history (which the other two weren't), he now requested for all the 3 to be subjected to a test in history.

Yama says OK but this would be the last chance and that he would not take any more tests.
1. PVNR is asked: "When did India get Independence?".He
replied "1947" and passed.
2. Advani is asked "How many people died during the independence struggle?" He gets nervous. Yama asked him to choose from 3 options: 100,000 or 200,000 or 300,000.
Advani catches it and says 200,000 and passes.
3. It's Laloo's turn now.Yama asks him to give the Name and Address of each of the 200,000 who died in the independence struggle.
Laloo accepts defeat and agrees to go to HELL.

*Moral of the story :
**IF YOUR MANAGEMENT HAS DECIDED TO SCREW YOU, THERE IS NO ESCAPE.**

CORPORATE LESSON # 1
There were these 4 guys, a Russian, a German, an American and a French, who found this small genie bottle. When they rubbed the bottle, a genie appears. Thankful that the 4 guys had released him out of the bottle, he said, "Next to you all are 4 swimming pools, I will give each of you a wish. When you run towards the pool and jump, you shout What you want the pool of water to become, then your wish will come true."
The French wanted to start. He ran towards the pool, jumped and shouted WINE". The pool immediately changed into a pool of wine. The Frenchman was so happy swimming and drinking from the pool. Next is the Russian's turn, he did the same and shouted, "VODKA" and immersed himself into a pool of vodka.
The German was next and he jumped and shouted, "BEER". He was so contented with his beer pool. The last is the American. He was running towards the pool when suddenly he steps on a banana peel. He slipped towards the pool and shouted, "SHIT!!!!!!!........."
MORAL OF THE STORY: Mind your language, you never Know what it will land you in.
CORPORATE LESSON # 2
A young executive was leaving the office at 6 PM when he found the CEO standing in front of a shredder with a piece of paper in his hand. "Listen," said the CEO, "this is a very sensitive and important document and my secretary has left. Can you make this thing work?"
"Certainly, Sir" said the young executive. He turned the machine on, inserted the paper, and pressed the start button.
"Excellent, excellent!" said the CEO as his paper disappeared inside the machine. "I just need one copy."
MORAL OF THE STORY: Never, never assume that your BOSS knows everything

When it comes to personal affairs, actions always speak louder than words. If you're not calling this person back, there's a reason. Be honest with yourself. If it's not working out, cut them loose ASAP.
Someone from your past wants reentry into your life. You can extend an invitation if you like -- but delve into your memory first. Is there a reason why you two had a rift in the past? If so, you might want to stay firm.

A woman goes to her boyfriend's parents' house for Christmas dinner. This is to be her first time meeting the family and she is very nervous. They all sit down and begin eating a fine meal.

The woman is beginning to feel a little discomfort, thanks to her nervousness and the broccoli casserole. The gas pains are almost making her eyes water. Left with no other choice, she decides to relieve herself a bit and lets out a dainty fart.

It wasn't loud, but everyone at the table heard the poof.
Before she even had a chance to be embarrassed, her boyfriend's father looked over at the dog that had been snoozing under the woman's chair, and said in a rather stern voice, "Skippy!".

The woman thought, "This is great!" and a big smile came across her face.
A couple of minutes later, she was beginning to feel the pain again.
This time, she didn't even hesitate. She let a much louder and longer ........rrrrrip.

The father again looked at the dog and yelled, "Dammit Skippy!"
Once again the woman smiled and thought "Yes!" A few minutes later the woman had to let another rip. This time she didn't even think about it.She let a fart rip that rivaled a train whistle blowing.

Once again, the father looked at the dog with disgust and yelled, "Dammit Skippy, get away from her, before she shits on you!"

Many years ago in a small village, a farmer had the misfortune
of owing a large sum of money to a village moneylender.

The moneylender, who was old and ugly, fancied the farmer's beautiful
daughter. So he proposed a bargain.

He said he would forgo the farmer's debt if he could marry his daughter.
Both the farmer and his daughter were horrified by the proposal. So the
cunning money-lender suggested that they let providence decide the
matter. He told them that he would put a black pebble and a white pebble
into an empty money bag. Then the girl would have to pick one pebble
from the bag.

- If she picked the black pebble, she would become his wife and her father's debt would be forgiven.
- If she picked the white pebble she need not marry him and her father's debt would still be forgiven.
- But if she refused to pick a pebble, her father would be thrown into jail.


They were standing on a pebble strewn path in the farmer's field. As
they talked, the moneylender bent over to pick up two pebbles. As he
picked them up, the sharp-eyed girl noticed that he had picked up two
black pebbles and put them into the bag. He then asked the girl to pick
a pebble from the bag.

Now, imagine that you were standing in the field.
What would you have done if you were the girl?
If you had to advise her, what would you have told her?


Careful analysis would produce three possibilities:

- The girl should refuse to take a pebble.
- The girl should show that there were two black pebbles in the bag and expose the money-lender as a cheat.
- The girl should pick a black pebble and sacrifice herself in order to save her father from his debt and imprisonment.

Take a moment to ponder over the story. The above story is used with
the hope that it will make us appreciate the difference between lateral
and logical thinking. The girl's dilemma cannot be solved with traditional
logical thinking. Think of the consequences if she chooses the above
logical answers.

What would you recommend to the Girl to do?


Well, here is what she did ....


The girl put her hand into the moneybag and drew out a pebble. Without
looking at it, she fumbled and let it fall onto the pebble-strewn path where
it immediately became lost among all the other pebbles.

"Oh, how clumsy of me," she said. "But never mind, if you look into the bag
for the one that is left, you will be able to tell which pebble I picked." Since
the remaining pebble is black, it must be assumed that she had picked the
white one. And since the money-lender dared not admit his dishonesty, the
girl changed what seemed an impossible situation into an extremely
advantageous one.

MORAL OF THE STORY:

Most complex problems do have a solution. It is only that we don't attempt to think.

One day many years ago at a school in South London a teacher said to the
class of 5-year-olds, "I'll give $20 to the child who can tell me
who was the most famous man who ever lived."

An Irish boy put his hand up and said, "It was St.Patrick." The teacher
said, "Sorry Alan, that's not correct.

?Then a Scottish boy put his hand up and said, "It was St. Andrew."
The teacher replied, "I'm sorry, Hamish, that's not right either.

Finally, a Gujarati boy raised his hand and said, It was Jesus Christ."

The teacher said, "That's absolutely right, Jignesh, come up here and

As the teacher was giving Jignesh his money, she said, "You know Jignesh,since you're Gujarati, I was very surprised you said Jesus Christ."

Once upon a time, there was a software engineer who used to develop programs on his Pentium machine, sitting under a
tree on the banks of a river.
He used to earn his bread by selling those programs in the Sunday market. One day, while he was working, his machine
tumbled off the table and fell in the river.
Encouraged by the Panchatantra story of his childhood (the woodcutter and the axe), he started praying to the River
Goddess.
The River Goddess wanted to test him and so appeared only after one month of rigorous prayers. The engineer told her
that he had lost his computer in the river. As usual, the Goddess wanted to test his honesty. She showed him a match
box and asked, "Is this your computer?"
Disappointed by the Goddess' lack of computer awareness, the engineer replied, "No. " She next showed him a
pocket-sized calculator and asked if that was his. Annoyed, the engineer said "No, not at all!!" Finally, she came up
with his own Pentium machine and asked if it was his.
The engineer, left with no option, sighed and said "Yes. " The River Goddess was happy with his honesty. She was
about to give him all three items, but before she could make the offer, the engineer asked her, "Don't you know that
you 're supposed to show me some better computers before bringing up my own?"
The River Goddess, angered at this, replied, "I know that, you stupid idiot! The first two things I showed you were
the Trillennium and the Billennium, the latest computers from IBM!" So saying, she disappeared with the Pentium!!
Moral: If you're not up-to-date with technology trends, it is better not to open mouth.

While visiting India , George Bush is invited to tea with Abdul Kalam. He asks Kalam what his leadership philosophy is. He says that, it is to surround himself with intelligent people. Bush asks how he knows if they're intelligent.

"I do so by asking them the right questions," says the Kalam. "Allow me to demonstrate."
Bush watches as Kalam phones Manmohan Singh and says, "Mr. Prime Minister, please answer
this question: your mother has a child, and your father has a child, and this child is not your brother or sister. Who is it?"

Manmohan immediately responds, "It's me, Sir !"
"Correct. Thank you and good-bye, sir," says Kalam.

He hangs up and says, "Did you get that, Mr. Bush?" Bush nods: "Yes Mr. President.
Thanks a lot. I'll definitely be using that!" Bush, upon returning to Washington, decides he'd better put Condoleeza Rice to the test.

Bush summons her to the White House and says, "Condi, I wonder if you can answer
a question for me." "Why, of course, sir. What's on your mind?" Bush poses the question:

Rice was puzzled and finally asks, "Can I think about it and get back to you?" Bush agrees,
and Rice leaves. Rice immediately calls a meeting of senior senators, and they puzzle over
the question for several hours, but nobody can come up with an answer. Finally, in desperation,
Rice calls Colin Powell and explains the problem.

"Mr. Powell, your mother has a child, and your father has a child, and this child is not your brother or your sister. Who is it?" Powell answers immediately, "It's me, of course."

Much relieved, Rice rushes back to the White House, finds George Bush, and exclaims,
"I know the answer, sir! I know who it is! It's our Colin Powell!"

When the husband returned with his new girlfriend, all was bliss for the first few days. Then slowly, the house began to smell. They tried everything - cleaning, mopping and airing the place out.
Vents were checked for dead rodents and carpets were steamed. Air Fresheners were hung everywhere. Exterminators were brought in to set off gas canisters, during which they had to move out for a few days, and in the end even paid to replace the expensive wool carpeting.
Nothing worked. People stopped coming over to visit. Repairmen refused to work in the house. The maid quit.
Finally, they could not take the stench any longer and decided to move.

A month later, even though they had cut their price in half, they could not find a buyer for their stinky house. Word got out and eventually even the local realtors refused to return their calls.
Finally, they had to borrow a huge sum of money from the bank to purchase a new place.

The ex-wife called the man and asked how things were going. He told her the saga of the rotting house. She listened politely and said that she missed her old home terribly, and would be willing to reduce her divorce settlement in exchange for getting the house back.

Knowing his ex-wife had no idea how bad t he smell was, he agreed on a
Price that was about 1/10th of what the house had been worth, but only if she was to sign the papers that very day. She agreed and within the hour his lawyers delivered the paperwork.

A week later the man and his girlfriend stood smiling as they watched
the moving company pack everything to take to their new home....

devil is a Software Engineer, so he comes in, signs the register and
then goes to the Cafeteria!!!!! !

Firstly, we survived being born to mothers who had no full time maids/cooked food/cleaned the house while they carried us.

We ate pastries, white bread and real butter and drank soft drinks with sugar in it, but we weren't overweight because...
WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!!!
We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.
No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K.
We would spend hours repairing our out dated bicycle and scooter out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem .
We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 99 channels on cable, no video tape movies, no surround sound, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet or Internet chat rooms..!
WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!
We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents .
We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.
We were never given BB guns for our 10th birthdays,
We made up games with sticks and tennis balls and although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.
We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just yelled for them!
Cricket League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!
The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!
This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever!
The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.
We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned
HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL! And YOU are one of them!

This time the boy ran faster, but again the basket was empty before he
returned home. Out of breath, he told his grandfather that it was
impossible to carry water in a basket, and he went to get a bucket instead.

Ans: No.

Qn: How would you define junk food?
Ans: Fried food like KFC, McDonalds, samosas, and even masala dosas.

Ans: Every race is vulnerable to some disease and unfortunately, Indians are vulnerable for the most expensive disease.

Qn: Does consuming bananas help reduce hypertension?
Ans: No.

Qn: Can a person help himself during aheart attack (Because we see a lot of forwarded emails on this)?
Ans: Yes. Lie down comfortably and put an aspirin tablet of any description under the tongue and ask someone to take you to the nearest coronary care unit without any delay and do not wait for the ambulance since most of the time, the ambulance does not turn up.

Qn: Do, in any way, low white blood cells and low haemoglobin count lead to heart problems?
Ans: No. But it is ideal to have normal haemoglobin level to increase your exercise capacity.

Qn: Sometimes, due to the hectic schedule we are not able to exercise. So, does walking while doing daily choresat home or climbing the stairs in the house, work as a substitute for exercise?
Ans: Certainly. Avoid sitting continuously for more than half an hour and even the act of getting out of the chair and going to another chair and sitting helps a lot.

Qn: Is there a relation between heart problems and blood sugar?
Ans: Yes. A strong relationship, since diabetics are more vulnerable to heart attacks than non-diabetics.

Qn: What are the things one needs to takecare of after a heart operation?

A professor stood before his Philosophy class and had some items in front of him.

When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.

He then asked the students if the jar was full.

They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar.

He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls.

He then asked the students again if the jar was full.

They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar.

Of course, the sand filled up everything else.

He asked once more if the jar was full.

The students responded with a unanimous "yes."

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand.

The students laughed.

"Now," said the professor, as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.

"The golf balls are the important things - your God, family, your children, your health, your friends, and your favorite passions - things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

"The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, and your car.

Mum and Dad were watching TV when Mum said, "I'm tired, and it's getting late. I think I'll go to bed."

She went to the kitchen to make sandwiches for the next day's lunches. Rinsed out the popcorn bowls, took meat out of the freezer for supper the following evening, checked the cereal box levels, filled the sugar container, put spoons and bowls on the table and started the coffee pot for brewing the next morning. She then put some wet clothes in the dryer, put a load of clothes into the washer, ironed a shirt and secured a loose button.

She picked up the game pieces left on the table, put the phone back on the charger and put the telephone book into the drawer. She watered the plants, emptied a wastebasket and hung up a towel to dry.

She yawned and stretched and headed for the bedroom. She stopped by the desk and wrote a note to the teacher, counted out some cash for the excursion and pulled a text book
out from hiding under the chair.

She signed a birthday card for a friend, addressed and stamped the envelope and wrote a quick note for the grocery store. She put both near her bag Mum then washed her face with
3 in 1 cleanser, put on her Night Solution & age fighting moisturizer, brushed and flossed her teeth and filed her nails.

Dad called out, "I thought you were going to bed."

"I'm on my way," she said.

She put some water into the dog's dish and put the cat outside, then made sure the doors were
locked and the patio light was on. She looked in on each of the kids and turned out their bedside lamps and radios, hung up a shirt, threw some dirty socks into the hamper, and had a brief conversation with the one up still doing homework.
In her own room, she set the alarm; laid out clothing for the next day,straightened up the shoe rack.
She added three things to her 6 most important things to do list. She said her prayers, and visualized the accomplishment of her goals.

About that time, Dad turned off the TV and announced to no one in particular.

"I'm going to bed." And he did...without another thought.

Road trips are a lot of fun. Get a bunch of your buddies together, rent a car, get a map, have a vague idea of which direction you want to go, and you're all set. I've gone on quite a few road trips but the most adventurous ones have been those in which Rocky~ has figured. Rocky~ is this incredible chap who has this uncanny ability of coming up with THE defining moment(s) of the trip. We eagerly await these moments and he never disappoints. This is what happened the last time around......


It all started on 20-07----2007,,, yeah July 20th, R~ graduation friends were coming to our place, G~ and A~, both are married couple.

I don't know them, But R~ is a gud friend, and they are gud friends of R~, so by transitive property, I judged them as gud, I know what you are thinking, yeah I am crazy and stupid, but still Iam. :)

R~ friends came around 8pm, we had a small chat, and then dinner time, then bye bye time, we had dinner at TAJ INDIA, florence, the only place to get indian fud in and around us. They left and we started thinking about the next two days....

Finally decided to "Rent a Car" and we move around, I hav Zero knowledge of wht and how to drive, But R~ has, but indian streets and indian rules.

We went to enterprise car rentals near airport, but unfortunately found any, the rental guy helped us in providing one of the address at NEWPORT and by taxi we finally reached enterprise @ newport.

Believe me with indian driving license (specially designed and developed in BIHAR), we finally rented the car with a gud deal of $20 per day.

Now the actual adventure starts.....

We thot to go bak to hotel first, take rest and then we will move around. But the initial task was lot tougher though... R~ never drove a car in other countries, and without knowing rules, right hand driving, and no driving directions,.... some how we managed to get some directions of 471 south, 75West,,,

After some help with enterprise guys knowing wht is wht inside the car, we started,, I know people behind our car, how they wud hav suffered, they honked, but for us it doesn't mattered, we wanted to go to our destiny no matter what,,,, and we missed the 471S,,,,,,

Deeply in trouble, we just scared, neither me nor R~ had any idea how to move proceed, we just wanted God's grace. Taking all the planless directions we are in Cincinnati downtown, we stopped at parking space, and R~ called his friend G~ for help, he guided him with directions, we take a U turn at wrong place, and after driving for some more time, we came into right track of 75, we keep going, and finally reached the destination we want.

Thank the Almighty,,,

We just relaxed for few min, reminding all the stupid things we had done. It was a very gud experience.

Evening R~ practiced in and around hotel, and slowly picked up the rules, and me too. I try to learn and succeeded in it.

Next day, sunday morning, we went to florence mall, with all the directions in place, and again drive around hotel, and evening we left the car at enterprise @ airport.

When the body was first made, all the parts wanted to be Boss.

The brain said, "I should be Boss because I control the whole body's responses and functions."

The feet said, "We should be Boss as we carry the brain about and get him to where he wants to go."

The hands said, "We should be the Boss because we do all the work and earn all the money."

And so it went on and on with the heart, the lungs and the eyes until finally the asshole spoke up.
All the parts laughed at the idea of the asshole being the Boss.

So the asshole went on strike, blocked itself up and refused to work. Within a short time the eyes became crossed, the hands clenched, the feet twitched, the heart and lungs began to panic and the brain fevered. Eventually they all decided that the asshole should be the Boss, so the motion was passed.All the other parts did all the work while the Boss just sat and passed out the shit!

Management Lesson: You don't need brains to be Boss, any asshole will do!

Every once in a while I do something really stupid.

You know the old question - "If a tree falls in a forest and there was no one around to hear it, did it make a sound?"

I've always thought the answer to that would be "of course" - sound is created and travels independantly of witnesses. But, if there were a purpose to sound, would the answer still apply? Suppose the sound were meant to convey something and it couldn't for lack of witnesses, would it make a difference that the sound did in fact exist in place of silence?
